Is downloading music illegal?

Can downloeading music be illegal? The answer can be both ways. It can be both from the ways you can download it.  Downloading peer to peer is legal, but uploading the files is not legal.  Then if you download copyright music it is illegal. If you get caught getting songs for free you can get into a lot of trouble by paying high prices. If you want the lastes hits from popular song you would have to pay for them. Basically you can copy song for your own usage but if you share it to other people therfore it is illegal.
